The following obituary was composed by Milton’s family:
Milton Daniels was born on November 5, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Mary Daniels and Milton Daniels Sr.
Milton graduated from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia in 1962. He continued his education at Cheyney University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Philosophy in 1976. In 1977, Milton pledged with Alpha Psi Omega.
Milton continued his studies at the Computer Education Institute, becoming a Computer Programmer. He also attended the National Broadcasting School, where he earned his FCC Broadcast Operator’s License. Milt had a deep love for Martial Arts and achieved the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kokikai Aikido.
Everyone who knew Milt knew that his first love was photography. He was a talented Photographer and Video Producer whose creative work and passion touched many lives. However, those closest to him also knew of another great love — riding his bicycle. On most sunny days, Milt could be found catching a breeze on his bike, something he truly enjoyed and rode with great pride and freedom - even until the very end.
Milton accepted the Lord early in life as a child, while also studying Buddhism throughout his spiritual journey.
Milton’s longest tenure of employment was with Haverford State Hospital, where he faithfully served for more than 16 years with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. During his career, he provided therapy treatment, direct supervision, and human services support within the mental health community at several local hospitals.
In addition, Milton brought over ten years of diversified experience in communications and computer applications. He provided IT services for nonprofit agencies, including setting up and maintaining computer systems, and also dedicated his time to providing GED training to teenage unwed mothers in Delaware County.
Milt leaves to cherish his memory his longtime love, Gloria Beam, with whom he shared over 40 years; his children, Lisa Daniels, Lawrence Miles, Jacqueline Miles, Shawn Daniels, and Tiffany Batte; his great-grandchildren Logan, Terrell, Paul, Tiara, Brice, Ayanna, Aliyah, and Sania; 15 grandchildren; his cousins, (with one special cousin Ursula) and a host of friends, neighbors, and Post family members.
Milton proudly served in the United States Army beginning in 1966 and was honorably discharged as a veteran. He was a devoted member of Colonel Charles Young American Legion Post #682 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
His legacy of wisdom, philosophy, creativity, service, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
My Dad’s Footprint
My father was a quiet kind of strength,
The kind that gave without counting the cost.
He filled our home with wisdom and laughter,
And taught us how to love before we knew we were learning.
His mind wandered deeper than most,
Always searching life for meaning beneath the surface.
He could turn an ordinary moment
Into a lesson about kindness, purpose, or hope.
He loved his family with his whole heart,
Not through grand words alone,
But through steady hands, open arms,
And sacrifices no one could fully measure.
Every person who crossed his path
Walked away carrying something of him—
A thought, a smile, a piece of encouragement, or something he's taught them
A reminder to live with compassion and honesty.
Though time moves forward,
His footprint remains in all of us.
In the way we love,
In the way we think,
And in the way we remember him
With gratitude that never fades.
